Sorensen wraps up 2026 Wild West Shootout with seven Top-10 finishes in Late Model and Modified
Dustin Sorensen rolled into the second week of competition out in the desert and prepped for rounds three, four, five and six of the 20th-annual Wild West Shootout at Central Arizona Raceway (Case Grande, Ariz.) Wednesday through Sunday.
Sorensen kicked things off with an eighth-place showing in the Late Model feature on Wednesday night and then showed out with a fifth-place finish on Friday. He trailed Hudson O'Neal, Bobby Pierce, Ryan Gustin and Tyler Erb.
In Modified ranks, Dustin ran runner-up on Wednesday and Friday before winding up sixth in Saturday's feature event. Sorensen dealt with mechanical issues on Sunday which prevented him from making the $3,000-to-win finale.
Sorensen found better luck in the Super Late Model on Saturday and Sunday, finishing 10th and 5th. In Sunday's $25,000-to-win finale, he trailed Bobby Pierce, Jonathan Davenport, Hudson O'Neal and Tyler Erb.
