Highland Speedway brings Dustin Sorensen podium finish with World of Outlaws
Dustin Sorensen kicked off a four-race stretch with the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series at Highland (Ill.) Speedway and earned a podium finish in the $12,000-to-win Beat the Heat 40.
Sorensen picked up a heat race win and redrew the pole position for the 40-lap main event. Dustin ran second for most of the feature before he made a move for the lead and lost a spot to Shannon Babb. Sorensen wound up third on the podium.
On Thursday night, Dustin picked up another solid outing with the tour as he ran ninth in the $12,000-to-win show at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.).
The series rolled into Maquekota (Iowa) Speedway for the weekend before rain showers cancelled the $12,000-to-win opener. For Saturday's $20,000-to-win showdown, Sorensen started towards the back and finished 16th.
Dustin remains 11th in the World of Outlaws point standings.
